Past
It started in 1998. I needed some program to view my images. At first it was only the Viewer part, then Slide Show came along.
Over the years it evolved, getting more features. Also it survived huge changes like Unicode support, 64-bit support, high dpi support.

Present
But now its over. Product is now EOL (30 June 2026) and downloads has removed my site (31 July 2026).
There is few reasons to this move. Firstly I will try to focus more myself and my family. Secondly WildBit Viewer is using components what are getting little bit "old" and replacing them basically requires rewriting large parts of the software.
I had some ideas for the future releases like heading towards multilingual support and also in the Slide Show badly needed to replace core component to another one (that would be create and give more flex to do something nice). But now those ideas are abandoned, sorry.

Future
Future is not set, but don't hold your breath for WildBit Viewer to come back :D

WildBit Viewer – End‑of‑Life (EOL) Announcement

WildBit Viewer has reached its final feature release with version 6.20 (06 June 2026).
A final maintenance update (version 6.20.1) addresses minor fixes.

With this release, the product has entered its final phase before End‑of‑Life (EOL). No further development or feature updates are planned.

• WildBit Slide Show Remote EOL: 06 June 2026
• WildBit Viewer EOL: 30 June 2026
• Download removal: End of July 2026 (may extend into early August)

After EOL, the product will no longer receive updates, security fixes, or technical support.

Downloading and using old software versions

Few key points to remember when downloading and using older versions: 

- Older versions may contain bugs that newer updates have fixed.
- They lack features that are available in the latest releases.
- The best way to resolve issues is to update to the newest version.

WildBit Viewer is moving away from Alpha,Beta releases

It's been long time (years) about how WildBit Viewer releases are formed. Usually I have released two (Alpha 1.0, Alpha 2.0) Alpha versions and two (Beta 1.0, Beta 2.0) Beta versions before Final version.

6.9 release is going to be last version about this kind of release cycle.

Since many users are already using these Beta versions before Final is released its time to move on...

New release cycle will be 6.10,6.11,6.12,6.13... so no more Alpha, Beta versions.
